90 Bedford Street
The building at the corner of Bedford and Grove Streets supplied the exterior of the “Friends” apartment block from 1994 to 2004. Nothing inside relates to the show; the ground floor is a restaurant, and the upper floors are homes. The Friends apartment page has the short answer.
Perry Street
The stoop at 64/66 Perry Street stood in for Carrie Bradshaw’s. It belongs to a private house, with a chain across the steps, and the residents ask people not to sit on it.
St Luke’s Place, Waverly Place, Minetta Street
St Luke’s Place holds two screen houses: number 10 for “The Cosby Show” and number 4 for “Wait Until Dark”. “Barefoot in the Park” used 111 Waverly Place, and “Serpico” filmed on Minetta Street.
The music films
Two films rebuilt the folk Village of 1961. “Inside Llewyn Davis” (2013) recreated the MacDougal Street scene, and the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” (2024) recreated Cafe Wha?, which is still open at 115 MacDougal Street. Etiquette at private homes
Photographs from the pavement, no sitting on steps, no blocking doorways, and voices kept down on residential streets. Grove Court and 75½ Bedford Street are private as well.
The walk that passes the screen addresses
The 2.5-hour food walk passes the “Carrie Bradshaw” stoop on Perry Street, the “Friends” building on Bedford Street, 23 Cornelia Street, Washington Mews and Washington Square Park between tastings. April (US) mentioned the mix of celebrity landmarks and food.
A screen-location route
One order on foot: Washington Square Park and its arch; Minetta Street; MacDougal Street and Cafe Wha?; Jones Street off West 4th; 111 Waverly Place; then west to 90 Bedford Street, Perry Street and St Luke’s Place. Cafe Wha? on screen and off
Cafe Wha? is the one screen location that still does what it did in 1961. Bob Dylan played the basement club soon after arriving that January, and Jimi Hendrix played it in 1966 as Jimmy James. It is still open at 115 MacDougal Street.
